The VOICES project is holding it’s kick off conference on the 26th of February 2016 in Dublin and we want you to get involved!
We are looking for people with disabilities to take part in the conference, on the 26th of February 2016, by sharing their stories of exercising their legal capacity. Participants are asked to sit on a panel and share their story about how the law affects them. The panels will also include an academic and a member of the project team.
The panels will be on the following issues:
• Making decisions about relationships,
• Making decisions about medical treatment,
• Experiences with the criminal law or police,
• Making decisions about buying or selling things.
The panels will start with the academic setting out the law in the area. After this the person with disability will share how the law impacts them, before a member of the project team sets out how the law could be changed.
If you would like to take part in the conference or know someone who would like to take part please contact Clíona on cliona.debhailis@nuigalway.ie. You can also contact Clíona if you have any questions.
If you are not interested in speaking at the conference but want to attend please RSVP here.
