Registration is now open for what promises to be a fantastic, free event on legal capacity.
Making our own Decisions: Sharing Stories & Creating Change will be held on the 22nd of November in the Institute for Lifecourse and Society, NUI Galway.
The final workshop for our project, before our book launch, will feature all 15 storyteller and respondent pairs from 12 different countries. They will share their experiences of the project and provide previews of the book which will be published in 2018 and you can view a draft programme for the event here.
The event will draw together the four core themes of the project – criminal responsibility, contractual capacity, consent to treatment and consent to sex – and feature a mix of personal narratives, art and theoretical perspectives based on the UNCRPD. The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Michael Bach, Managing Director of the Institute for Research and Development on Inclusion and Society and his particular area of expertise is in legal capacity of people with intellectual disabilities.
Registration is now open via Eventbrite and although this is a free event we ask attendees to please register on or before Monday the 13th of November as places are limited and refreshments will be provided.
